Applying for a HDR course

 

How to apply for a higher degree by research

To apply for admission to a Higher Degree by Research (HDR) course at the University of Canberra, you will first need to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to the faculty via the HDR application portal.

If your EOI is successful, you will be invited to submit an admission application.

Your expression of interest will include:

  • type of research and field of interest
  • planned research topic
  • names of the supervisors you would like to work with.

Steps to apply

Applications for higher degree by research (HDR) degrees are completed online via the HDR application portal.

  1. Identify a potential supervisor for your research project.
  2. View application due dates. Please drop down the selection box and select Higher Degree by Research students.
  3. Create an account for the HDR application portal
  4. Check your eligibility using the Eligibility Calculator.
  5. Submit your Expression of Interest (EOI).
  6. If your EOI is approved, submit your Admission Application.

Applying for a University Research Scholarship

If you are applying for a University Research Scholarship you should do so as soon as you submit your admission application and prior to the scholarship deadlines.

You must submit your scholarship application through the HDR application portal.

After you submit your application the faculty and Graduate Research will review your application, this could take several months. We will advise you of the outcome via email as soon as possible. 
 
The process may take longer if:

  • we require additional information

  • your referees are slow to respond

  • the faculty require additional time to assess your application.
