A university pathway program

If you鈥檝e recently finished Year 12 in Australia or completed a Certificate III but don鈥檛 quite meet the entry requirements of your preferred University of Canberra degree, UC Connect will build your skills and prepare you for future university study.

UC Connect is a pathways program that helps bridge the gap between your current academic qualifications and the entry requirements of the course you鈥檙e interested in studying. So, even if you鈥檝e recently missed out on a university place because you didn鈥檛 meet the required ATAR, this bridging program can help you gain access to a university education.

If you鈥檙e over the age of 21, you may be eligible to gain alternative entry to UC via our UC Prep pathways program.

The UC Connect bridging course program has been developed by the University of Canberra together with UC College for recent school leavers who鈥檇 like an alternative pathway to studying an undergraduate degree at 黑料网. When you鈥檝e successfully completed the program, you can apply for admission to UC.

With UC Connect, you鈥檒l develop the skills you鈥檒l need to succeed at university by studying four preparation subjects:

  • Humanities
  • Analytical methods
  • Academic techniques
  • Numeracy and digital literacy.

These units will prepare you for university life by helping you:

  • develop critical and analytical thinking skills
  • learn to solve mathematical problems
  • develop academic writing and research skills, including referencing
  • collect, organise and analyse information to the expected academic standard
  • explore a range of technologies you鈥檒l use at university
  • develop verbal and written communication and presentation skills, both in groups and individually
  • develop social, emotional and wellbeing skills for coping with academic study at university.

The full-time UC Connect study program is nine hours per week for 16 weeks, which is equivalent to an EFTSL of 0.50. The course runs for 18 weeks in total, which includes exams and a break.

To be eligible for a place in the UC Connect program, you'll need to be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or Australian Permanent Resident, and have completed either:

  • an Australian Year 12 qualification with three passes in academic subjects
  • an ACT Year 12 certificate with a C grade average or
  • a Certificate III qualification.

If you don't meet these eligibility standards, but can prove your likelihood of success, you can apply to attend an interview and present your case to our admissions panel.

The program runs multiple times throughout the year, giving you the opportunity to enrol and complete it ready for the start of the next University teaching period.

How to apply

To apply for UC Connect you鈥檒l need to:

  • complete the online application form at
  • upload all relevant certified documentation, such as your birth certificate or Australian passport, and academic transcripts, as requested on the form.

If you鈥檝e been in Australia for less than two years or if your first language isn鈥檛 English, you may need to attend an interview.

Offers for entry to UC degrees following successful completion of your UC Connect program will be dependant on your UC Connect assessment results. You may also need to meet a series of inherent requirements to successfully complete your UC Connect bridging course.

Please note that not all UC degrees are available to study through the UC Connect program, as some require a higher entry score than can be achieved through our Pathways programs.

Contact UC College if you鈥檙e considering studying the Bachelor of Midwifery as a supplementary application form may be required.

Australian and New Zealand citizens or Australian Permanent Residents are eligible for a Commonwealth Supported Enabling place for UC Connect. It鈥檚 considered an enabling course and the Australian Government will cover your entire program fee.

All students need to pay a Student Services and Amenities Fee.
