The aim of this unit is to explore and demonstrate contemporary occupation-based information gathering and intervention strategies for individuals and communities. Students will learn the role of an occupational therapist to facilitate client focused care by building on knowledge, skill and professionals behaviours developed in previous skills based and reasoning units.

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:
1. Apply specific information gathering strategies to identify occupational performance and participation enablers and barriers for individuals and communities;
2. Demonstrate occupation-based intervention strategies using an occupational therapy process for individuals and communities; and
3. Justify the application of information gathering and intervention strategies for specific individual and communities.
