This unit introduces students to various sub-fields of strategic and crisis communication and enables them to better understand the ways various types of actors and organisations communicate strategically in an increasingly mediated and networked world. Drawing on case studies, industry best practices, and scholarly discussions covering a wide range of strategic and crisis communication related issues, this unit helps students form an analytical framework that can be used in developing, presenting, and evaluating strategic and crisis communication messages and strategies in a rapidly changing communication environment.

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:
1. Critically evaluate various concepts, theories, and practices relevant to strategic and crisis communication;
