Welcome to the Faculty of Education website.
Education was one of the founding disciplines of the University of Canberra when it was originally established as the Canberra College of Advanced Education in 1967. Today, the Faculty brings together academics who are committed to skilling, supporting and guiding people who want to make a difference through education— in schools and communities. We also provide on-site childcare through the Wiradjuri Preschool Childcare Centre which I am proud to say has recently been rated as ‘exceeding’ the national accreditation standard.
Our teaching is underpinned by the latest research, much of which is developed here in our own faculty. The Faculty is home to two University Research Centres:
Both of these centres are providing the solid research base that guides improvements in child and adult learning across Australia and our region.
A major specialisation of the Faculty is our Affiliated Schools model which integrates teacher professional development, mentored student placements, teachers as researchers and a collaborative research program with the ACT Directorate of Education. Other areas of specialisation include community learning and development, comparative international education and STEM education.
