Careers UC manages the jobs and information portal, CareerHub. CareerHub lists many jobs throughout the year, including casual and part-time jobs on campus or in Canberra and beyond, as well as graduate positions all over the country. It also features unpaid voluntary roles.

Internships
If you’re studying a degree that doesn’t have Placement included, doing an internship is a great way to gain industry experience related to your studies. CareerHub lists a range of for-credit and not-for-credit internships for all UC students.
As an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander student, you can participate in the paid CareerTrackers Indigenous Internship Program. You’ll learn from leading employers offering valuable multi-year internships that complement your course. The skills, confidence and industry exposure will ensure you’re job-ready as graduation approaches.
In the CareerTrackers program, you:
- complete a 12-week paid internship related to their field of study in the winter and summer breaks
- get access to scholarships while studying, plus funding for professional development
- receive fortnightly contact with a dedicated CareerTrackers Student Adviser
- build relationships with other students in the program, both locally and nationally
- complete world-class training programs focused on leadership development
- network with some of Australia’s most successful industry and community leaders
- attend an annual Leadership Development Institute National Conference
- become a member of CareerTrackers 1000-strong alumni network.
CareerTrackers internships and other paid internships may be counted as for course-credit. Check with your unit convenor for more information.
If you’d like to do an internship for course-credit, you’ll need to enrol in an internship unit. Make sure you start looking for opportunities a few months before the start of your internship unit, so that everything is organised on time. Timiah found CareerTrackers at the beginning of 2022 and has just begun her first internship with the Cultural Facilities Corporation at the Canberra Museum and Gallery. In a short time, Timiah has already showcased her determination and enthusiasm with the CareerTrackers program.
Timiah thoroughly enjoyed her first university semester in particular the subject 'Big Stories, Culture, Memory, and Power' was fantastic. As a student studying a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Culture and Heritage we were very excited to have Timiah come onboard and be matched with our new partner, the Cultural Facilities Corporation. Timiah quickly impressed the team at the Canberra Museum and Gallery and they happily offered her a winter internship.
During Timiah's internship, she has had the chance to do some really practical work, helping to install various art exhibitions with the collections team. She has also attended a children's learning program that the gallery runs and had the chance to observe the curator's presentation and interactions.
Timiah is making the most of her opportunity with the Culture Facilities Corporation and is excited to continue networking and growing her professional skillset with the team.
Student Representative Council
You can run to become a representative of the Student Representative Council (SRC) to gain exposure in governance and bring a student voice to the development of policies, procedures, and student services at ºÚÁÏÍø.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students seeking representation on the UCSRC can run as part of the Ngunnawal Centre. To be eligible, students need to be known to the Ngunnawal Centre or be representing them in another capacity in October when elections are held.
