Regardless of whether you’re graduating this year or finished up your studies three decades ago, the University of Canberra will always welcome our students both past and present, into our vibrant alumni community.
Here’s everything you need to know about graduating from UC as an international student, the benefits you’ll receive as a member of our alumni, and how to stay connected beyond graduation day.
Graduation is an exciting time for many students. This momentous occasion celebrates the completion of your studies at ºÚÁÏÍø. Prepare for the big day by RSVPing your attendance, reserving any guest tickets for family and friends, hiring your cap and gown, and purchasing any photography packages. If you are unfortunately unable to attend your graduation day in person, you can collect your testamur and academic transcript from the Student Centre.
As an international student, you may also need to help anyone travelling from home to arrange flight and accommodation.
Be sure to look at important information such as registration cut offs, the date of your ceremony, as well as timings. You can find all the information about graduating on the UC website.
There’s no need to apply to join the alumni community – once you graduate you are automatically welcomed into our network. There are so many benefits to being an active member including access to development resources like webinars and workshops for professional growth, exclusive invitations to events, and opportunities to connect and network with fellow alumni.
As a recent graduate, UC provides career resources to alumni up to 12 months after graduating. These include a careers toolkit, access to a careers advisor, job listings and attendance to career expos. You are also entitled to lifetime access to the library’s print collection so you can continue your studies after graduation. For further support, the resource hub, UCanThrive, is available with a selection of curated content around the topics like creativity, home schooling, mental health and more.
To help you stay fit and healthy, alumni receive a special discounted membership price for our on-campus gym, , giving you full access to exercise equipment, the weights area, unlimited group training classes, personalised training programs and more.
There are a number of ways you can stay connected with UC and our network of alumni.
Two of the main ways to do this is by either volunteering your time or donating to help support students, our research or UC’s future through scholarships, funds or awards. Contributions have aided in initiatives like the Athlete Scholarship, the UC Textbook Fund, the Student Empowerment Fund, the Ngunnawal Elders Fund and more. Donations can start from as little as $2 with 100% of your gift going to the place of your choosing.
Have a story to tell? collects, preserves and shares the stories and experiences of former students and staff members. The project aims to document memories and photographs related to people’s individual history with the University of Canberra. This can include a memory about the campus, teachers, other students, research, the wider community and more. As part of the alumni, UC encourages all members to share their stories and email in submissions.
For avid readers, the ºÚÁÏÍø Alumni Book Club hosts a virtual forum for past students to stay connected and bond over a mutual love for reading and learning. The club spends roughly two months on each book, giving all its members the time to read at their own pace.
Members can then connect through a private online forum to discuss the publication. The club is free to join – all you have to do is grab your copy of the latest book as set by the reading schedule.
